Areas of Training

Energy systems training leverages the science and technology of real-time biometrics to measure and analyze the body’s outputs as you train, helping us optimize your performance and even predict and prevent injury.

Succeeding in sport often necessitates the ability to move faster than the competition – while maintaining balance and stability. To enhance your speed and stability, we train with resistance, sleds and plyometrics.

Strength is essential to all areas of movement, performance and general health. Excel in sport and competition, and get the most out of your performance – and everyday life – by building muscle and strength.

Agility training connects the mind and body for more coordinated, stable movements. With time, these movements become reflexive, supporting improvements in movement efficiency and overall performance.

Canadian Sport School

Established in 2011 by Canadian Sport Institute Pacific (CSI Pacific), the Canadian Sport School is delivered across the province of B.C. by viaSport Regional Alliance organizations, which PISE is a part of. The school facilitates a high performance culture amongst like-minded athletes while providing support, coordination and advocacy between student-athletes, their high school teachers and sport coaches. Elite high school athletes can struggle to manage their time, commitments and the demands of being a student along with the expectations of being a high performance athlete striving for excellence. The Canadian Sport School helps alleviate these pressures of balancing athletics and academics.

The school welcomes approximately 30 students each year from grades 10, 11, and 12 from a variety of sport backgrounds and schools in the Greater Victoria area (School Districts #61, 62 and 63 all participate). The student athletes spend half of their day at their regular high school taking required academic courses, and half of their day with the Canadian Sport School at PISE.

Unsure of what courses you need in your sport specific pathway? Use this link to select your sport and look at the different courses that are required to complete your Comp-Intro and Comp-Dev pathways. Please keep in mind that each National Sport Organization (NSO) requires different courses depending on the sport. Some pathways are integrated (i.e. Rowing Planning a Practice), where the coach takes specific courses offered through that NSO to meet the requirements of that sport level. Other sports are de-integrated, where their sport pathway includes multi-sport modules (i.e. Basic Mental Skills) for coaches to take to meet the requirements of that sport level.
