After pursuing an education in Business at Camosun College and the University of Victoria, he went on to serve as Special Assistant to David Anderson, M.P. for Victoria and Minister of the Environment. While there he worked on the Species at Risk Act (SARA), Fisheries conservation, and the Gulf Island National Park. Following his time in Ottawa, Stephen returned to Saanich to start his own construction company and focus on his young family. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, fishing and golf in his spare time.

After attending law school at University of Victoria, Jeremy and his wife were thrilled to return to Vancouver Island in 2021. In his free time, Jeremy enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, volleyball and working hard at the gym. Jeremy and his wife enjoy the natural beauty of Vancouver Island and embracing the dizzying number of opportunities the area presents for food and drink lovers.
Jeremy enjoys seeking out ways to become involved in his community and embraces the connection between his community and its educational institutions. Jeremy’s previous volunteer positions include being a community member of UBC-O’s Behavioral Research Ethics Board; a board member of the Central Okanagan Economic Development Commission; a grant advisory committee member for the Central Okanagan Foundation; president, treasurer, secretary and director at large of the Kelowna Ultimate Players Society and president, past president, treasurer secretary and director at large of the Kelowna Bar Association.

Brett has a passion for sport and has previously volunteered as the treasurer for Castaway Wanderers Rugby Club. He is active recreationally in many sports and enjoys trying new activities. He and his wife are also kept busy with their two young daughters.

Melanie has received a Leadership Victoria Community Leadership Award, a British Columbia Community Achievement Award, was nominated as a YWCA Woman of Distinction for Community Leadership and received the BCIT President’s Award.
She holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from SFU, completed the MIT Inquiry Driven Leadership course, the ICD Governance Essentials course for Not-For-Profit directors and is a fellow of the Community Shift Program at the Ivy School of Business. She is also a Certified Fundraising Executive and has completed several courses in Indigenous cultural safety. She is a Member Emeritus of the Conference Board of Canada’s National Council of Foundation Executives, a mentor at the UVIC Gustavson School of Business and a recognized speaker on values-based leadership, fundraising and corporate culture. Melanie has served on a number of board and commissions.

Dr. Lane Trotter

Lane has also served as a Dean at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario. While at BCIT, he was instrumental in the development of the education and business plan for the Aerospace Campus, which opened in 2007. He also spent a number of years serving in different roles in BC’s Ministry of Advanced Education. Lane served as the Chair of the Council of Presidents of BC Colleges between 2015-2017 and, in 2017, served as the Campaign Chair for the United Way of the Lower Mainland. He also served on the Board of Governors of the Business Council of BC. He earned his Doctorate of Education from Simon Fraser University (2010) and holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Victoria (1992).

Additionally, Mataya has worked and volunteered with children and youth through girls’ groups and soccer teams. While at university, she was on the Native Student Union Council and volunteered in student mentorship positions. She enjoys engaging in projects that bring people together and celebrate successes.
