PISE Announces New Leadership!

Just like the name suggests, PISE Pop-Up Programs can pop up anywhere! Book us for schools, preschools, or at PISE, delivering fun and engaging activities throughout Greater Victoria.

All inquiries for pop-up programs must be sent to play@pise.ca. Please include dates/days of the week you are hoping for, how many participants and block timing/length of blocks if necessary.

PISE will bring its fleet of sport wheelchairs directly to your school or organization for an engaging introduction to adapted sport. Visits require access to a gymnasium and are delivered to one class at a time throughout the day in scheduled blocks. While each session follows a similar format, instruction is adapted to meet the developmental needs and abilities of each group.

Each class begins with an introduction to adapted sport, including discussions about accessibility, inclusion, and the role of adaptive equipment in sport participation. Participants are then introduced to the sport wheelchairs and learn fundamental mobility skills, including moving forward and backward, turning, stopping, and starting safely.

Following the introduction, students divide into small groups and rotate through an obstacle course designed to develop wheelchair handling skills, coordination, confidence, and teamwork. Participants practice maneuvering through a variety of challenges while building an understanding of adapted sport experiences.

Depending on the age and developmental level of the group, sports-specific activities may also be incorporated. For example, participants may be introduced to basic wheelchair basketball skills, such as dribbling and ball control, through fun and accessible introductory games and activities.

This hands-on experience provides students with an opportunity to build empathy, challenge assumptions about disability, and develop a greater appreciation for inclusive physical activity and sport.

Grades: K-5 – Ages 5-10

Cost: $1000.00/full day, $500.00/half day

PISE Fun Days provides schools with an engaging, active, and inclusive experience that helps students develop physical literacy through play. Delivered in a gymnasium, field, or outdoor school space, Fun Days feature a variety of movement- based stations, games, and activities designed to build confidence, competence, and enjoyment in being active.

Students rotate through stations led by trained PISE Physical Literacy Leaders. Activities focus on developing fundamental movement skills and positive socioemotional skills. Stations can be adapted to meet the developmental needs and abilities of different age groups, ensuring all participants experience success.

Throughout the day, students are encouraged to explore movement, work collaboratively, and challenge themselves in a supportive environment. Activities emphasize creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and active participation rather than competition, helping students build positive relationships with physical activity and movement.

Grades: K-5 (Ages 5-10)

Cost: Dependent on length and number of participants. Please email play@pise.ca for more information.

*Please note space is limited at PISE from September – April

Stations for K-5: PISE School Visits hosted at PISE provide students with the opportunity to experience a variety of engaging, play-based physical literacy activities in a dynamic and welcoming environment. Classes visit the PISE facility where they participate in instructor-led games, challenges, and movement experiences designed to build confidence, competence, and enjoyment in physical activity.

Students rotate through a variety of age-appropriate activities that develop fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, balancing, throwing, catching, and coordination. Activities are designed to be inclusive, interactive, and adaptable to the developmental needs and abilities of each group, ensuring all participants can experience success.

Throughout the visit, students are encouraged to explore movement through play, teamwork, and creative problem-solving. Sessions emphasize active participation, personal growth, and positive movement experiences rather than competition, helping students develop confidence and motivation to be active.

PISE staff create a supportive environment where students can challenge themselves, build connections with their peers, and discover new ways to move and play. School visits can be tailored to support classroom learning outcomes, physical literacy goals, wellness initiatives, or special school experiences.

Single or Two-Class Visits: These visits are shorter in length and would be a session of play-based games and activities building fundamental movement skills. Sessions are typically 1-1.5 hours in length.

Please note that the maximum capacity for this would be two classes visiting at once.

Grades: K-5 (Ages 5-10) (station activities), K-8 (Ages 5 – 13) for individual class visits or two classes

Cost: Dependent on length and number of participants. Please email play@pise.ca for more information.

PISE Bike Rodeos provide students with a fun, hands-on opportunity to develop cycling skills, confidence, and safe riding habits in a supportive and engaging environment. Through a series of interactive stations and activities, participants learn and practice fundamental bike handling skills while building the confidence needed to ride safely and independently.

Students rotate through skill-based stations that focus on key cycling fundamentals such as starting and stopping, braking, steering, balance, signaling, scanning their surroundings, and maneuvering through obstacles. Activities are designed to be age-appropriate, engaging, and adaptable to the skill level and experience of each participant.

Throughout the program, PISE Physical Literacy Leaders reinforce important bike safety concepts, including helmet fit, equipment checks, road awareness, and sharing pathways responsibly. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves, practice new skills, and support one another in a positive learning environment.

Bike Rodeos emphasize skill development, active participation, and enjoyment over competition, helping students build physical literacy through cycling while developing confidence, independence, and decision-making skills. The program is designed to be inclusive and accessible, allowing riders of varying abilities and experience levels to experience success.
